Think of the results page of a travel site. You checked "under $200", "departure within the next 12 months": these are ranges. You clicked "sort by rating then by number of reviews": that is sorting. You scroll through pages 1, 2, 3: that is pagination, and the site knows that beyond a certain page it is better to offer you "load more" than a direct jump to page 900.
