A single NorthPeak reading, temperature_c = 43.4, means little on its own: each machine has its own normal, and old machines run warmer. Compared with the same machine's recent past, the same value becomes a signal. Four rolling columns built in Exercise 1 carry that comparison, and they lift the AUC from 0.879 to 0.954 with the same model.
