Object detection goes further than image classification — it finds where each object is in a photo, and draws a box around each one, even if there are several.
Imagine it like this: Instead of just saying "this photo contains animals," object detection is like circling each animal in the photo and labeling each one: "dog here, cat there, bird up there."
